Prosecutors charge woman accused of firing shots at ex-boyfriend in Moiliili

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Prosecutors have charged a 36-year-old woman accused of shooting at her ex-boyfriend in Moiliili last Saturday night.
Malia Lajala is charged with firearm offenses and reckless endangering. She was initially arrested for attempted murder.
The incident happened around 10 p.m. on University Avenue.
Authorities said the shots missed the 40-year-old victim and he was not hurt.
Hawaii News Now has learned that Lajala is the same woman convicted of helping alleged cop killer “Justin Waiki” evade arrest on Hawaii Island six years ago, in 2018.
Court records show Lajala was released on parole just last year.
Following Saturday’s incident, Lajala is now out on $20,000 bail.
She’s due back in court on Thursday.
